Twice-Turned Bowls |
Bowls are always turned when the wood is green. Because so much of the wood content is water the bowls will distort as they dry and it is important to dry them slowly so that they don’t crack.
Some prefer single-turned bowls because their unexpected elliptical shapes appeal to them.
For round bowls we must initially make them very thick and after they are dry they are put back on the lathe and turned round again. |
